AI agents launcher

The Atlas includes a catalog of 47 AI command-line agents: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Aider, OpenCode, Goose and more. Full list: Agent catalog.

Terminal window
atlas agents # interactive picker
atlas agents --free # only agents with a free tier
atlas agents --installed # only installed agents
atlas agents --list # print the catalog and exit

In the chat, use /agents.

Key Action
Type Filter by name, command, category or description
↑ ↓, PgUp PgDn Move
Tab Toggle “run on Atlas free models”
Enter Open the agent
Esc Close

The agent you opened last comes first, then installed agents, then the ones you use most.

Enter opens the agent in a new terminal window, so your Atlas chat stays where it is:

  • Windows: Windows Terminal if installed, otherwise a new PowerShell window.
  • macOS: Terminal.app.
  • Linux: the first one found of x-terminal-emulator, gnome-terminal, konsole, xfce4-terminal, kitty, alacritty, xterm.

If the agent is not installed, The Atlas shows the install command and asks first. Installers that download and run a remote script are marked. The install runs in the new window.

Press Tab in the picker, or pass --free. The Atlas starts a background local proxy on port 4141 and launches the agent with:

Terminal window
OPENAI_BASE_URL=http://127.0.0.1:4141/v1
OPENAI_API_BASE=http://127.0.0.1:4141/v1
OPENAI_API_KEY=<your atlas serve token>

Aider, Open Interpreter and Shell GPT work this way with no setup. Other OpenAI-compatible agents use the variables too; if an agent asks for a model, choose auto.

Terminal window
atlas run aider # launch here; installs if missing
atlas run aider --free # on Atlas free models
atlas run codex --window # in a new terminal window
atlas run aider -y # install without asking
atlas run aider -- --help # pass arguments to the agent
atlas install gemini # install only

atlas run accepts the agent name or its command. The first time you run an agent, The Atlas prints how it logs in (browser login, API key, subscription).

  • Install commands run in PowerShell. Agents with a winget or PowerShell installer use it.
  • Agents whose installer is a bash script need Git Bash (Git for Windows) or WSL.
  • Some agents have no Windows build; they are marked WSL only in the catalog.
  • If an agent installs but is not found, open a new terminal so PATH refreshes, then run atlas doctor.

Create ~/.the-atlas/agents.conf, one agent per line, same format as the bundled catalog:

# NAME|BINARY|COMMAND|INSTALL|DESCRIPTION|CATEGORY|AUTH|URL|WIN_INSTALL
My Agent|myagent|myagent|npm install -g my-agent@latest|My own agent|Coding|API key|https://example.com|-

BINARY may list alternatives (a,b). WIN_INSTALL is a PowerShell or winget command for Windows; - means WSL only. Your agents are added to the list; an agent with the same name as a bundled one is ignored.
