OmniRoute

OmniRoute is a separate, open-source AI gateway. It pools accounts and free tiers from many providers behind one OpenAI-compatible endpoint. The Atlas can install, start and connect it for you.

Terminal window
atlas omniroute

This command:

  1. Installs OmniRoute with npm install -g omniroute@latest if it is missing.
  2. Starts it and opens its dashboard at http://localhost:20128.
  3. Moves omniroute to the front of the auto fallback order.

Add your accounts and keys in the OmniRoute dashboard. The Atlas talks to it at http://localhost:20128/v1.

In the chat, /omniroute does the same through the connect wizard.

Use an OmniRoute instance running elsewhere:

Terminal window
atlas omniroute --url https://gw.example.com/v1 --key <key>

The URL and key are saved in ~/.the-atlas/config.json (baseURLs.omniroute, keys.omniroute). The key can also come from OMNIROUTE_API_KEY.

  • When OmniRoute is not running, auto mode skips it silently and uses the next provider.
  • To stop using it first, edit order in config.json, or pick another provider with /provider.
  • If it does not start, run omniroute in another terminal to see its output.
