In the Atlas chat
Section titled “In the Atlas chat”The status line is always on, under the input box. It is replaced by the menu while you type / or @.
In Claude Code
Section titled “In Claude Code”Claude Code can show the same line at the bottom of its screen:
atlas statusline --install claudeThe Atlas shows the change, asks for confirmation (-y skips it), backs up your settings file, and sets:
{ "statusLine": { "type": "command", "command": "atlas statusline", "padding": 0 }}in ~/.claude/settings.json (or $CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR/settings.json). Restart Claude Code to see it. If you already had a status line, The Atlas shows it before replacing it; the backup file keeps it.
In Claude Code the line shows Claude’s model, session cost, lines changed and context usage, all taken from the JSON Claude Code sends.
Remove it
Section titled “Remove it”Delete the statusLine entry from ~/.claude/settings.json, or restore the backup (settings.json.atlas-backup-<date>) next to it.
Test it by hand
Section titled “Test it by hand”atlas statusline reads Claude Code’s JSON on stdin and prints one line:
echo '{"model":{"display_name":"Opus"},"cost":{"total_cost_usd":0.42}}' | atlas statusline
